Thanksgiving Week

Hello,

This is a picture of my wife, Maren, my oldest son, Jordan, and me in Seattle yesterday at the Seahawks football game. We lost again, but it was a great day anyway!

This is a very short week with only 2 days of classes (Monday and Tuesday). Thursday is Thanksgiving. A time when many families will get together, eat way too much food, watch football and talk about all the many things they are thankful for.

My wife and I talked about what we are thankful for with Calvin, our youngest. Our lists were all amazingly similar:

family

food

fun (toys)

dog and cat

Make a short list of the 3-5 most important things in your life.

Have a wonderful, long weekend and come back next week refreshed and ready for the CASAS Reading and Listening tests, pre-registration for winter quarter and the last couple of weeks of fall quarter. Time flies! :-) Ask your teacher about the two Winterim classes:

1. Financial Literacy: 6-9 p.m. at Chase

2. Writing: 9-11 a.m. on the main CBC campus

Take care,

Jason

Career Goals and Pathways

Good morning,
I hope you enjoyed the weekend.
This quarter is almost over and soon it will be 2009.
I know many of you are already planning ahead and thinking about the classes you will need to take in order to meet your career goals.
Please answer the following questions by clicking "comment" at the bottom of this post.

1. What is your "Dream Job"? If you could have any job in the world, what would it be? Why?
2. What is your long-term goal at CBC? Do you have an academic or class plan or have you talked to anyone about a Career Pathway?
3. If you are already retired, cannot work or are not interested in a job or career, what is your "Dream Day"? Describe what a perfect day of not working would be like for you :-)

CBC has many resources and programs to help you reach your academic and career goals. In other words, we can help you get from where you are now to where you want to be!
*Don't forget to ask your teacher about the special writing and financial literacy classes in December.
Have a great week!

What's Happening?

Hello,
I hope you had a great weekend!
Don't forget tomorrow is Veterans Day, so there will be no classes.
No matter what your politics and beliefs are, last week was an exciting and historic week.
How do you feel about Obama being elected the next president?
Can you find an article from any newspaper that is about reaction to the election?
Copy and paste the link in your response.

Here is my example:

Injuries and Accidents, oh my!

Hello,
This is a picture of my youngest son, Calvin, with his purple cast. A motorcycle tipped over on him and broke his leg. He has learned to move around pretty well with the cast, but we're all excited for it to come off next week!
Have you ever broken any bones? What was the worst accident or injury you have experienced?
Please take care of yourself!
Don't forget to vote! Tomorrow is Election Day!
